Reiki
The word Reiki is a Japanese word, loosely, it means 'Universally Guided Life-Force Energy'. Everything in the universe is composed of Energy, including us. Energy flows within us and around us and is the 'Life Force' by which our bodies function and survive - in fact, we couldn't live without it.
Reiki is a very pure form of this 'life force energy', which flows abundantly through a Reiki practitioner's body, out through their hands and directs itself to where it is needed in the person receiving the treatment.

What effect does Reiki have?
Reiki energy flows to the area in or around the physical body, the area around the body is called the 'aura' and Reiki often flows here too. When we are feeling out of sorts, for example when we are stressed, anxious or depressed, an interruption in the flow of life force energy is created. Eastern medicine believes that when this energy isn't flowing properly, it has an adverse effect on the physical, emotional or mental body. The long term effects mean that physical or mental illness will eventually manifest.
How is Reiki given?
When you come and have treatment you will lie on a therapy couch, fully clothed apart from your shoes and simply relax. I then gently place my hands on or near various areas of your body's own energy centres and Reiki simply flows; as this happens, clients usually feel incredibly relaxed, others fall asleep. It is not unusual for people to also experience wonderful vivid colours or a sense of calm and tranquillity. Of course that is one of the immediate benefits of a treatment - the longer term benefits can be even more amazing.
What is certain is that Reiki has infinite possibilities; for some it acts as a healing agent, to allow the body to mend itself physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. For others, especially those who decide to practice Reiki it is a life changing experience in other ways. For me it brought about positive changes in my life circumstances and changed me for the better.
Reiki has no firm religious convictions; rather, it has very firm 'spiritual' connections. What makes Reiki so unique is that it has the same wonderful effect, whether you have a religion or not. |
